Flat earthers are uninterested in truth, only in confirming their religious based bias. Even it it means lying. When caught lying they double down.

If he cared about the truth he would investigate, then discover it was a lie. This would be followed by apologies and a retraction. But since Jon cares nothing for truth he persists in lying.
