This is a FOH$10,000 counter challenge to the $200,000 challenge by Flat Out Hero. See my video dissecting his challenge here: https://youtu.be/_s44LpK3-Hg
This challenge is a bit contrived, this was to prove a point more than to really issue a challenge exploring the nature of the earth. It’s not a secret the maps referenced in the challenge approximate a sphere. The point is that a real challenge should have a lot of thought put into it and be carefully constructed.
A legit challenge must:
1. Have clear criteria
2. Have unmodifiable criteria
3. Show proof of ability to pay
4. Have an option for independent judging
To satisfy these this challenge uses the Legit Challenge Framework.
To prove the description cannot change here is the SHA-256 digest of text of challenge. Starting with the “L” in Legit and ending with the “.” on the last line:

Challenge:
Piece together maps for the entire continental US to form one large map. Charts are pieced together by trimming the maps so neighboring charts can lay next to each other with lines of latitude and longitude in alignment.
If when pieced together, they lay flat, you win. If they do not lay flat but, but instead form a three dimensional shape, you do not win.
The maps allowed are one of three sets of charts available for free download:
* FAA Sectional charts
https://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/flight_info/aeronav/digital_products/vfr/
* Tactical Pilotage Charts
http://legacy.lib.utexas.edu/maps/tpc/
* ONC Charts
http://legacy.lib.utexas.edu/maps/onc/
Physical maps may be purchased or digital versions may be obtained and printed. Printed versions may be scaled to 8.5×11 paper or A4 paper. Images may not be skewed before or after printing.
Acceptance parameters:
If when pieced together, they lay flat, you win. If they do not lay flat but, but instead form a three dimensional shape, you do not win.
Margin of error:
When taping together paper of this nature there are inaccuracies. Slight misalignments should be reduced but will not negate an entry. Intentional misalignment to force an outcome is not accepted.
